“Together, we have accomplished so much”

Dear valued friends of CARE,

I am writing to share I have accepted a new position as the Executive Director of FolkTime in Portland, and I will be leaving my position as Executive Director of CARE on February 16th. I joined the team at CARE during a time of significant challenges for CARE and our community combating the COVID-19 pandemic, but throughout these challenging times I have seen firsthand the dedication, passion, and drive of the CARE staff and wider Tillamook community. Together, we have accomplished so much, and I am proud to have been a part of the team that has helped CARE continue to grow and evolve into the agency it is today. CARE is strong today because of the hard work of a dedicated team, board, and friends like you!

As you may know, CARE has been presented with some tough decisions in the last few years, especially in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, despite these challenges, we have remained laser-focused on our mission to “foster changes that create healthier, more resilient communities throughout Tillamook County and empower people as they work to meet their immediate, basic needs.”

I am excited to have helped usher in one of our biggest growth opportunities. In 2023, CARE will reintroduce a no-barrier shelter to Tillamook County, providing shelter to the most vulnerable members of our community. This new endeavor is a testament to CARE’s commitment to housing and homelessness and our role as the county's Coordinated Homeless Response Office. I am proud that I was able to guide CARE through this period of transition and to prepare our team for the bright future that lies ahead of CARE but feel that the organization needs new leadership and vision to take the next steps into that future.

I want to thank you for your continued support of CARE. It is because of friends like you that we have been able to make the hard choices and make bold progress towards supporting our mission. I am confident that the staff and Board of Directors of CARE will continue to do magnificent work in the years to come. The CARE Board of Directors has already engaged with an executive search consultant and will be commencing the search for my successor immediately.  If you or someone you know has an interest in the position, please keep an eye on our website www.careinc.org or email recruitment@careinc.org.

While my professional endeavors will be taking me out of Tillamook County, I will still be living in Tillamook, actively engaged in the things that matter for our most vulnerable and being a strong champion of CARE’s as I cheer them on from the sidelines. Thank you again for your support.

Wander well,
