In the Fall of 2006, CARE’s Community Foods Program will transition into its own not-for-profit food organization, Food Roots Inc. The Food Roots programs will be many of the same ones that the Community Foods Program has been coordinating.

The Community Foods Program has operated under CARE since 1999, when the first community garden was created. Since then, the Community Foods Program work has expanded. By continuing these programs Food Roots will provide resources, educate, advocate, build infrastructure, empower families and communities and connect partners, all with the goal of growing a healthy regional food system.

Food Roots Inc. would like to take this opportunity to thank CARE’s Board and staff and all those in the community for helping support the vision, create and nurture this program, which has now “grown up” into Tillamook County’s own food focused community based organization.
